The wonderful success of Oktoberfest recently demonstrates the great generosity of our parishioners and the bountiful graces from God. Our Poor Clare Sisters pray for us daily, especially for our Oktoberfest success and favorable weather…and once again we witnessed the power of their prayers! Their spiritual ‘boost’ and the hard work of so many parishioners came together beautifully! I was inspired to see so many new people stepping in to get involved, and some parishioners taking new leadership roles.
In case you missed the big announcement last weekend, we made a profit of $82,000! I think back to the “early years,” when we were happy to make $5,000-10,000. In 23 years of Oktoberfest, we have now crossed the $1 million profit line, all of which goes toward reducing the debt on our new church. Thank you for your support.
As always, there are an unlimited number of people to thank. Our generous chairperson, Tom Knaust, did a great job leading the ‘core team,’ which includes about 50 people leading hundreds of volunteers. Our awesome set-up and clean-up crew, led by Carl Lurk and Mark Huller, was there around the clock from Friday through Sunday! And the 5K run, led by Joan Guenther and her team, saw another successful year! Also, a very special thank you to our amazing sponsors and sponsorship team, Andrea Picchietti and Molly King.
