Sacramental Preparation

St. Clare Parish offers preparation programs for anybody wishing to receive the Sacraments of the Church:

Infant Baptism
Parents should call the Parish Office (632-3562) to sign up. Normally, parents are requested to attend one class about the Sacrament of Baptism. This class need not be repeated in the future. Infant Baptisms are scheduled on an individual basis.

Adult Baptism
In accordance with the Church’s Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, unbaptized children who have reached the age of seven and adults are initiated into the Catholic Church through a gradual process.  They become probationary members of the Church as catechumens and receive structured formation in the Christian way of life.  Their initiation reaches its climax at the Easter Vigil when the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are celebrated.  Anyone interested should contact Cheryl Sommer at the parish office at 632-3562 or cherylsommer@yahoo.com.

First Reconciliation
Preparation is done during Grade 2. Children wishing to receive First Reconciliation must be attending either St. Clare Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion, as well as participate in the First Reconciliation Preparation Program during the fall. We celebrate First Reconciliation every year during Advent.

First Communion
Preparation is done during Grade 2. Children wishing to receive First Eucharist must be attending either St. Clare Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion, as well as participate in the 1st Eucharist Preparation Program during the late winter / early spring months. We celebrate 1st Eucharist every year during the Easter season.

Confirmation
Preparation is done in Junior High. Youth wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation must be attending either St. Clare Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion, as well as participate in the Confirmation Preparation Program throughout the school year.

Confirmation and First Communion for Adults
Adults who have been baptized either in a Catholic Church or a Church of another denomination are received into the full communion of the Catholic Church through an adaptation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  They celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist when they are received into full unity with the Catholic Church.  The process varies according to each person’s Christian background and experience.  For more information contact Cheryl Sommer at 632-3562 or cherylsommer@yahoo.com.

Reconciliation
Confession is offered on Saturdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. or by appointment.  Community celebrations are also offered ever Advent and Lent.  Click here for an Examination of Conscience.

Matrimony

Parishioners who have participated in the parish’s marriage preparation process are welcome to celebrate this sacrament at St. Clare Parish. Couples should contact the pastor at least a year before their desired wedding date to make arrangements.
