Marriage Preparation-Sponsor Couples This ministry is for a married couple who will work with an engaged couple in preparing them for marriage. After a one-time training session with Fr. Jim, the couple will be assigned just one or two engaged couples per year, for a total of four evenings with each couple. The sessions with the engaged couple include discussions on communication, finances, faith, parenting, etc. There are no other meetings to attend and you can plan the evenings around your schedule. Vocation Committee The vocations committee is dedicated to helping our young adults discern and respond to God's call to the religious, single, or married life. Adult Faith Formation Committee This committee strives to make real the Catholic Church’s teaching that adult faith formation should be at the center of the Church’s religious education efforts. Members of the committee offer input on topics for adult education opportunities. The committee also oversee the implementation of a variety of programs including large group speakers, retreats, small faith communities, and bible study. Host Inquirers in Your Home People who are considering joining the Catholic Church meet weekly in the homes of parishioners to ask their questions and to meet the people that make up the Catholic Church. Catechist /Discussion Leader for Christian Initiation: For Adults A catechist not only presents Catholic beliefs to those joining the Church but more importantly facilitates a discussion that will help people to incorporate these teachings into everyday life. Detailed session outlines and other background material are provided. Catechists are required to attend at least one two hour session in ongoing scripture education and at least one two hour session in another area of Church teaching. Sunday Scripture Discussion Leader for Christian Initiation: For Children Persons who sign up for this ministry are responsible for leading discussion of the Sunday Scripture readings for children who are catechumens. The discussion period will take place for 30 minutes after the time catechumens are dismissed from Mass after the homily. Time commitment: Depends on the number of discussion leaders available—approximately 90 minutes once or more a month including preparation time. Contact Person: Cheryl Sommer, 632-4281
Catechumen Sponsor Adults and children are needed as sponsors for catechumens and candidates for full communion in the Church. Besides attending catechumenate meetings with the catechumens, a sponsor is more importantly a friend and a guide to the parish for someone being initiated into the Church. Confirmation Team We are looking for social people who are comfortable meeting new people and who would be willing to lead activities centered on our Catholic Faith, specifically Sunday scripture readings. Training will be provided. Ideal for those who have experienced RENEW, RCIA, or “Christ Renews His Parish” and would like to share their gifts with other families. Vacation Bible School Every summer, our parish offers a vacation bible school for one week in late July between 9am-12pm. Adult and youth volunteers are essential for a successful week. PSR Catechist PSR Catechists are volunteers who teach grade K-7 every weekend during the school year. PSR Classes are held on Sunday mornings from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at St. Clare School.
